Whooper Swan dip

Tried again for the Otmoor Whooper Swan for my Otmoor list and once again dipped (I'm a useless twitcher which is why I don't do much twitching). It was Jacob's first birthday on Friday so I've spent the last couple of days inside so despite the rain had to get out today.

Booming Bittern, singing Curlews, 3 Oystercatcher, Redshanks all over, 2 Pintail, singing Sedge Warbler and also a few mammals- Muntjac, Weasel (with small mammal prey) and Brown Hare.

Highlight of the weekend was a singing Curlew heard from the Old Vic.

 Curlews over Otmoor
A few moths at the old vic this weekend including Nut Tree Tussock, Oak Beauty and Hebrew Character (here) and also Common Quaker, Clouded Drab and Twenty Plume Moth.
Noticed this Muntjac hiding in the hedge at Otmoor (above and below)

Bryan's had the drive done at the Old Vic- looks like the builders took out the clump of Mossy Saxifrage.
A 'colchicus group' Pheasant. More on Oxfordshire pheasants HERE
